Galatians 5:19–26 (NKJV)
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

2 Pe 1:5–8(ESV) For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Faith – Does it take Self Control to “step out of the boat?” (mat 25-33)
Yes, self control of fear, and steadfastness to stay out there
Self Control of fear would be called Courage
.
Tt 2:1–6(ESV) But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled.

Pr 21:16–17(ESV) One who wanders from the way of good sense
will rest in the assembly of the dead.
17    Whoever loves pleasure will be a poor man;
he who loves wine and oil will not be rich.

If you “love” an item it becomes an Idol
If you spend all your money on you “loves” what do you have left?

1 Co 9:24–27(ESV) Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
If we Practice Prayer and study the word when we need it to battle the devil it will automatic, like a martial art.

Pr 16:32(ESV) Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

HIS sprit not THE sprit, meaning your inner emotions
NIV translated as temper

Pr 25:28(ESV) A man without self-control
is like a city broken into and left without walls.

It is better to control yourself then to control the world
